Finish
Description>
| Anodized aluminum is an attractive and
highly corrosion/abrasion resistant material. For architectural
and other applications, it is desirable to increase surface
hardness and add color for aesthetic reasons and to provide
superior protection against atmospheric corrosion and physical
abuse. A surface treatment developed to satisfy architectural
and engineering requirements is the Embury Permanent Color
(EPC) continuous coil anodizing process which provide's a
heavier and more dense aluminum oxide coating that is integral
with the base metal. EPC is manufactured under license from
Alcan Canada Products Limited. Available in coil form, cut
to length sheet, or fabricated to specification, materials
may be finished one or both sides in either flat or embossed
patterns. EPC results in an anodic film that is color fast,
highly abasive resistant, extremely flexible, and which lends
itself to postforming techniques more readily than other hard
colors such as sulphuric acid anodizing and dyeing. Embury
can also produce clear or dyed anodic finishes in the same
thickness as EPC or flash anodic coatings up to thicknesses
indicated in Sizes data noted at right. |

Basic Use:
For all architectural and other aluminum fabrications requiring
a protective and/or decorative finish. EPC anodized aluminum can
be handled without fear of damaging finish, especially shearing,
forming, cutting, bending or stamping operations. Example uses
for EPC continuous coil anodized aluminum include curtain wall,
store fronts and entrances, fascia, trim, column covers, sun control
devices, industrial roofing and siding, facings, flashing, residential
siding and similar exterior and interior applications.
Composition and
Materials:
The EPC finishing process employs a continuous coil anodizing process
(as opposed to batch anodizing). It is a more consistent and economical
form of anodizihg involving a highly automated process which provides
less potential for error while reducing labour costs. Uniform levels of
quality are a saliant feature of the coil anodizing process, which is
briefly illustrated below.
Coil or Sheet Sizes:
Width: Up to 52". Length: as desired depending on color.
Contact Embury for requirements. Thickness: .008" minimum to .064"
maximum.
Temper: Standard tempers from 1/4 to full hard. "0" temper on
special request.
Coating Thickness: EPC color anodizing Up to .0007", finished
one side only.
Clear anodizing .0007" one side only or .0004" one side and .0003"
on other side.
